Since I was young I read and collected comics. This was almost 40 yrs ago and since then have been in and out of the ‘comic scene’, I always enjoyed collecting special or ‘key’ issues so now that has been my focus this round in the hobby.
I started hearing about pressing books and was intrigued and the notion I could take my well read, beat up book and make it look closer to brand new, I was determined to look into this! After long searches and countless video’s and first hand tales I gathered enough information to buy the equipement to give pressing a try. Can’t give enough thanks to a good friend and awesome local collectibles dealer, Brian Sellai of Class Act sportscards and comics @briansellai on instagram for giving me access to his Huge inventory of major key books to practice pressing books. Highlights of the session included Amazing Spider-man #2 and the coveted Hulk #181, first appearance of Wolverine.
After over 5 years now, I’ve establishing myself to the instagram family @comicbook_pressing with amost 6k followers trying to attend as many shows and doing advertising to help get the word out locally as well as working with Wonderland comics in Fresno, ca. as a drop off and pick up spot. If you havnt been to Wonderland in awhile it is one of the best back issue spots in town.
